Seems like the upcoming Steam release of The Last of Us Part I should work well on Steam Deck, as not only are Valve already teasing it, the Co-President of developer Naughty Dog talked about it too.
On the Valve side, a keen eye might spot a short clip of it on the official Steam Deck website. Look for a friendly Giraffe, but to help you along it’s here:
Showing it off like that, even just as a brief teaser shows Valve clearly have confidence in it which makes me happy. It’s still to this day one of my favourite single-player story experiences. If you missed the Steam release announcement, I noted it in my The Game Awards 2022 round-up and there’s a lot of good stuff coming.
On top of that, Neil Druckmann the Co-President of Naughty Dog said on Twitter “Ellie and Joel will grace the Steam Deck… don’t worry!”. Sounds like it’s a first-party port for Windows too (the Steam Deck runs it through Proton), with Naughty Dog doing it directly.
Exciting times!
