The first episode of Netflix’s Sonic Prime will be streamed through Roblox this weekend

Sonic fans looking forward to Sonic Prime on Netflix will be able to see the first episode early via Roblox.

The free-to-play game platform is home to Sonic Speed Simulator, where players can explore Sonic environments in the Roblox game engine.

According to an announcement by Neflix’s official Netflix Geeked Twitter account, the first 40-minute episode of Sonic Prime will be airing on Sonic Speed Simulator every 45 minutes for a week.

This means fans will get to watch the first part of the series a number of days before it arrives on Netflix.

Netflix announced Sonic Prime back in February 2021, when it said the series would consist of 24 episodes.

Set for release on December 15, it’s billed as “a high-octane adventure where the fate of a strange new multiverse” rests in Sonic’s hands, as well as “a journey of self-discovery and redemption”.

Canadian production company WildBrain animated the series at its Vancouver studio, with Sonic Prime’s showrunners and executive producers coming from Man of Action Entertainment (Ben 10, Big Hero 6).

The show’s Netflix debut comes a month after Sega released Sonic Frontiers for Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC.

VGC’s Sonic Frontiers review called the game “the kick up the backside 3D Sonic has been crying out for”, describing it as “a truly accomplished effort that hits a lot more than it misses”.
