Newfangled Games and Netflix have just announced a new joint venture, the award-winning top, down, 2D paper folding puzzle adventure game, Paper Trail. It will be available for Android and iOS users on Netflix’s gaming catalogue later in 2023.
Paper Trail follows the story of Paige, a budding academic, in a foldable paper world, as she leaves her home for the first time to pursue higher studies. Her journey will be dotted with numerous unique characters and puzzles which will open the gates to newer areas. Loads of secrets will be uncovered as Paige explores the world.
Players will traverse through a plethora of areas ranging from dark caves to super-tall treetops. All these environments have been handcrafted using various art forms like printmaking and watercolour. While solving puzzles, players will be meddling in the fabric of the world itself, contorting, spinning, and twisting it.
Speaking about the project, Henry Hoffman, Founder of Newfangled Games, said: “We are thrilled to be partnering with Netflix on Paper Trail. This game has been our passion project for over two years and we can’t wait for players to experience what we’ve been working on when it’s released later this year. Collaborating with Netflix is a huge achievement for us as a team. From publishing and helping us reach millions of players around the world, the support they’ve provided has been incredible. It’s truly been an honour. We hope players enjoy Paper Trail as much as we loved creating it!”
Paper Trail has been quite the hit, accumulating over 25 different awards and accolades such as the Best Family Game at the Gamescom Awards, Game of the Year at Reboot Develop, Most Innovat at IndieX, and Best Mobile Game at the Taipei Game Show, to name a few.
