New Splatoon 3 Season Inked In For Next Month

A new Splatoon 3 season is on the way, and it’s set to bring a lot of new content with it. Chill Season 2022, as Nintendo is calling it, will pack new weapons, new gear, and new events, plus new stages to battle it out on and lots more. It’s debuting on December 1st.

It’s all go at Splatoon Towers right now. Last week, a Pokemon-themed Splatfest was held to determine which starter type was, in fact, the very best, and now a brand new content season has been announced. You’ll be able to get to grips with some new weaponry, including a rather intriguing-looking rifle that seems to incorporate a pencil.

Better make sure you’re not on the pointy end of this.

As well as new weapons, Chill Season 2022 in Splatoon 3 will also herald the arrival of X Battle, which is effectively an additional ranked play mode for serious Splatoon 3 devotees. This system will be playable alongside Splatoon 3‘s Anarchy Battles, though, so you’ll be able to choose which of the modes you prefer to play in.

Finally, Splatoon 3‘s Chill Season 2022 will see the first Big Run event occurring. If you missed the Splatoon 3 Direct a few months back, Big Run sees Salmonids invading stages usually used for Anarchy Battles or Turf War, so you can play the Salmon Run mode on those stages. It should be a fun shake-up to Splatoon 3‘s core gameplay.

Splatoon 3 Chill Season 2022 begins on December 1st. It’ll come in the form of a free update to the game, so you won’t need to worry about buying any of the new content (except with in-game currency, of course). If you’re yet to grab Splatoon 3 and get stuck into its ink-redible multiplayer shooter gameplay, you can pick it up on Nintendo Switch right now in physical form or via the eShop. It’ll set you back $59.99.
