Gameplay trailer and release date revealed for Scars Above

For those of you watching The Game Awards 2022, you may well remember seeing a certain third-person action-adventure sci-fi shooter coming onto your screen. Well, that would be Scars Above, an exciting title developed by Mad Head Games, and published by Prime Matter.

Releasing on 28th February, 2023 onto Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC, Scars Above puts you into the boots of Dr Kate Ward. Ward is a scientist and astronaut that has been deployed out to the alien structure known only as The Metahedron. However, those aboard The Metahedron have much more nefarious intentions: before you know it, Kate and her team are whisked onto an alien planet, and from here the survival adventure commences.

In order to track down your missing team, as the player you will first have to scan your environments, and make note of the resources available on this extrasolar planet. From here, the aim of the game is to craft an array of consumables, gadgets and elemental weapons which you’ll be using against the terrifying alien creatures that call this planet home.

Whilst Scars Above is set in the third-person, initial impressions immediately bring to mind No Man’s Sky, insofar as you set foot on planets which you have little knowledge of, where managing your resources is key to survival.

Releasing on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4 and PC on the 28th February, 2023, further details of Scars Above can be found on the game’s Xbox Store page. Of course, we will have a full review of the game for your pleasure around the time of release.

For now, you can check the game out on Steam, taking in a demo which will walk you through the first chapter of Scars Above. Give it a look and let us know what you think.
