Final Fantasy XVI To Feature Over 11 Hours Of Cinematic Cutscenes

The producer of Final Fantasy XVI has revealed the upcoming RPG will feature over 11 hours of cinematic cutscenes, which means we’ll presumably have plenty of time to make a cuppa during our time with the game.

Speaking during press interviews as part of a global media tour for the highly anticipated title, Naoki ‘Yoshi-P’ Yoshida made it clear that the team wanted to ‘tell a story that was complete,’ hence why Final Fantasy XVI is packed with cutscenes.

One thing that was important to us, though, was to tell a story that was complete, from beginning to end, and at that we think we have succeeded. To facilitate this, there are over 11 hours of cinematic cutscenes in the main scenario alone, all seamlessly interwoven into the game experience, playing in-engine in real-time.

Speaking in a separate interview with IGN, Yoshi-P also revealed that Final Fantasy XVI will ditch optional dungeons but will feature large-scale maps. The team would also still be in full production now if it wasn’t for the hardware capabilities of the PS5.

Final Fantasy XVI is scheduled for release on June 22, 2023 for PS5.
