DC’s Justice League: Cosmic Chaos announced for March 2023

DC’s Justice League: Cosmic Chaos, an upcoming family-friendly adventure game featuring popular DC heroes and villains, has just been revealed with a brand-new trailer today. It will feature open-world gameplay, and 2-player couch co-op.

The game is currently scheduled to launch on March 10th, 2023. It will be available on PC, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Seres X|S, and the Nintendo Switch. Here’s the full announcement trailer from Bandai Namco’s YouTube channel:

DC’s Justice League: Cosmic Chaos trailers from Bandai Namco and Outright Games have both disabled comments, which seems more about reinforcing its family-friendly appeal than avoiding criticism. After all, the game will include couch co-op, and split screen is so rare these days that it generally suggests the devs wanted to encourage families to play together.

Also, it is immediately clear from the art design that the devs wanted to create something playful and cute for younger gamers, though all DC fans would be welcome. The environments and characters pretty much resemble a cartoon, but there are some touches of Paper Mario in there. This may disappoint some fans, but it does look very charming.

The open-world approach makes sense, as it would allow kids the freedom to explore and create their own fun, akin to Roblox and Minecraft. However, the gameplay is also expected to include puzzles and story missions.

Players will also be able to upgrade their characters and earn various cosmetics, though it’s unclear just how much freedom the devs were able to invest in. It doesn’t seem likely that this game will have the same clout as TT Games, who recently added LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga to the Xbox Game Pass, and frequently adapt massive IP into hugely successful games.
