In the wake of one of the deadliest earthquake events in the world, the crypto industry has united to aid the victims of Turkey and Syria.
Two of the prominent names that have stepped forward in the matter are Carl From The Moon and Vitalik Buterin (co-founder of Ethereum).
The Web3 community has made substantial crypto donations to major NGOs, bringing a lot of relief for the victims and their families.
According to reports, Vitalik Buterin has donated over $250,000 to the victims of Turkey and Syria. The most recent donation made by the Ethereum co-founder was 50 ETH, amounting to approximately $75,000. This recent contribution has been added to the 99 ETH, donated previously.
The official Ethereum Twitter page also tweeted the following, encouraging people to make donations for the relief efforts as well.
Carl From the Moon will also be making contributions to help the NGOs in the earthquake relief activities.
He will be hosting a charity live-stream later today on Twitter. He is also encouraging the crypto community to donate whatever they can for the relief efforts, as seen in the tweet below.
It was also reported by the Financial Times last week that over $10 million in crypto has been donated by businesses from all over the globe. This also included $5 million contributed by Binance alone.
Binance also tweeted regarding airdropping $100 in BNB to aid people in the areas badly affected by the earthquake.
Ahbap, a non-governmental and non-profit organization in Turkey, alone has received $4.3 million in crypto donations (at the time of writing).
