Classic 1997 Puzzler Riven Is Officially Getting A Modern Remake

Riven, the 1997 sequel to Myst, is getting a full modern remake, Cyan has announced today during an F&Q on its official website.

Billed as a ‘modern remake’ and not simply remaster, Riven has yet to be confirmed for any specific platforms and a release date is understandably not available at this early stage.

Riven is one of the most highly regarded games in Cyan’s history. We didn’t want to approach it lightly or frivolously. Cyan is a small indie studio. We wanted to make sure we could take on such a difficult, costly and complicated endeavor—and do it well.

The FAQ also reveals that the Riven remake will feature fully traversable 3D space, which may seem like an odd thing to say in this date and age, but remember that the original version of the game was a point-and-click adventure.

Further details on the Riven remake will be announced at a later date.
