Amnesia: The Bunker Reimagines the Series as a Survival Horror Semi-Open World Game

From the creators of SOMA and the Amnesia series, we get a reimagined version of Amnesia that we never thought would come. Amnesia: The Bunker, a brand new survival horror game with semi-open world elements, is headed to the masses in March 2023.

Amnesia has typically been a horror game that really didn’t give the player many options in terms of defense. Being chased by a mortifying bug creature with too many legs and no weapon to blow it into oblivion is terrifying though, which is what the game is all about; horror. Fans of the series also know that one of the only things you can do to defend yourself is throwing a barrel or maybe a chair, which really does nothing, but it brings comfort for some reason. Amnesia: The Bunker takes everything we knew about the game and flips it upside down in the best of ways.

Amnesia: The Bunker brings both survival horror, completely different gameplay, and sandbox elements together into one horrifying game. From the trailer, it appears that we are now armed with a revolver while traversing the depths inside of a World War I bunker. It also seems that we are not alone in that bunker, and the French soldier we have embodied is being hunted down like a deer by a ghastly creature.

One of the best things about the Amnesia series has always been the extreme tension that is built just by running around. You never truly know what could be waiting for you around the corner, and the music and environment only add to that tension. This latest installment now provides players with choices that matter and freedom that has yet to be seen before in the series. With that also comes more dynamic and challenging gameplay, where players must choose wisely on how they are going to escape this constant looming threat.

Amnesia: The Bunker is set to release at some point in March of 2023, and will be available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC and PlayStation 4. It will also be available via Game Pass.
